Pluribus AI Flop Strategy – Frequencies

Let’s look at Pluribus frequencies as the preflop aggressor and defender in both single raised pots and 3bet pots.

Out of the 10K hands available, Pluribus played in 1748 flops, excluding limped-called pots with SB/BB. I took those out from analysis. That is 1456 single raised pots and 292 3 bet pots. Breaking down as agressor in position, agressor out of position, etc. it doesn’t leave a lot of hands for statiscally relevant analysis of board textures or frequencies against specific bet sizings etc.

Still it is plenty for key overall frequencies.

There aren’t that many great learnings there other than:

  • Pluribus donks a lot in 3bet pots (27%), and at 9% much more than anybody else on single raised pots.
  • I think most of the other frequencies aren’t big surprises and match what we see with solvers.
  • I’m more surprised by the overbets and bet sizings.
  • So next post, we’ll cover in details the 3bet pot donk and the single raised pot overbets. To me there are big surprises with the overbets…

Single Raised Pots

Pluribus as the preflop agressor in position

  • 482 hands played
  • 56% Cbet
  • 44% check back
  • Pluribus faced only 2 donks, and raised one, folded the other (Donkey had a set on a super dynamic board).

Pluribus as the preflop agressor out of position

  • 181 hands played
  • 31% Cbet
  • 69% Checked
    • Faced a bet on 36% of these
      • Check Call for 51%
      • Check Raise for 7%
      • Check Fold for 42%

Pluribus as the preflop defender in position

    • with 51% call
    • 12% raise
    • 37% fold
  • Facing a check (73% of hands):
    • 37%bet
    • 63% check back

Pluribus as the preflop defender out of position

  • 638 hands
9% donk bets (much more than the pros did)
On the 91% of checks:55% faced a bet (45% check through)
    of these:50% check fold
    41% check call
    9% check raise

3 Bet Pots

Of course there are much less 3bet pots, but they are important and significantly different.

Pluribus as the agressor in position

  • 72 flops
  • 10 faced a bet (donk) from the opponent (so pros donk absolutely more 3bet pots)
    • 6 calls, 1 raise, 3 folds
  • of the 62 flops facing a check:
    • 74% bet, 26% check back (and with a lot of 1/4 pot sizings

Pluribus as the agressor out of position

  • 83 flops
  • 61% cbets
  • 39% check followed by:
    • 18 check through and 14 bets:
      • facing these bets, 7 folds, 2 raises, 5 calls

Pluribus as the preflop defender in position

  • 82 flops
  • faced 57% bets
    • 49% calls
    • 17% raises
    • 34% folds
  • for the 43% of checks:
    • 43% bets and 57% check back

Pluribus as the preflop defender out of position

  • Only 55 flops
  • Pluribus donk bets 15 times which is 27%
  • Then faces a bet on 58% of its checks and for these:
    • 39% call
    • 17% raise
    • 44% fold
